Iran rejects EU meeting proposal on nuclear deal

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Said Hatibzade stated that the time is not appropriate for the “unofficial nuclear deal meeting” proposed by Josep Borrell, the High Representative of EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Said Hatibzade stated that the time is not suitable for the “unofficial nuclear agreement meeting” proposed by Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

In his written statement on the website of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hatibzade evaluated the proposal of Borrell, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

Stating that the meeting is not appropriate for the meeting proposed by Borrell due to the attitude and steps taken by the USA and 3 European countries, Hatibzade said, “It is not a matter of negotiation for all parties to fulfill their commitments in the nuclear agreement. All the give-and-take talks in this direction were made 5 years ago. It is clear enough that needs to be done. The United States must end all its sanctions and return to its commitments in the nuclear deal. This work neither needs negotiation nor a decision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Directors. ” used the expressions.

Arguing that there has been no change in the attitude and actions of the USA, the new President of the USA Joe Biden has not abandoned the policy of maximum pressure of the former President Donald Trump and has not declared his commitments regarding the nuclear deal, Hatibzde said:

“Iran will respond to action with action. It will return to its commitments in accordance with the lifting of sanctions. It will also respond to hostile steps in the same way. Iran will continue bilateral and multilateral consultations with Borrell and other countries in the agreement.”
