Hershel Woody Williams battleship permanently docked on Crete Island
The battleship USS Hershel Woody Williams, one of the largest ships in the US Navy, permanently anchored at the US military base in Suda Bay, Crete Island.
The arrival of the warship “USS Hershel Woody Williams” to Crete was announced on the official Twitter account of the US Navy.

Meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kiriakos Miçotakis in Crete Island, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated that USS Hershel Woody Williams is permanently anchored in the island.
USS Hershel Woody Williams (ESB 4) serves as a naval reconnaissance base. It is one of the largest non-nuclear ships in the US Navy and has a capacity of 78 tons of water.
USS Hershel Woody Williams is known as the largest naval base for the V-22 Osprays used in special operations.
The ship also serves as the naval base for unmanned aerial vehicles taking off with the MQ-8 unmanned helicopter and launch system.
