A man who crashed his car into the barriers of the Congress building in the US capital Washington at dawn shot himself when he saw police approaching
The capital’s police said that a man who drove his car towards the Capitol around 4:00 a.m. first hit the barriers in front of the building, and when he saw security forces approaching him, he fired several shots in the air and committed suicide.
The car, which targeted the barriers at the corner of East Capitol Street NE and 2nd Street SE in Washington, burst into flames. It was shared that the suspect, whose identity information was not disclosed, died at the scene.

The statement said that in the incident, which occurred at a secluded time of the day, the suspect “did not appear to be targeting any member of Congress” as both Congress and the Senate were on vacation, and that the police did not respond with weapons.
