According to the New York Post, FBI Director Wray spoke at a program at Vanderbilt University in the US.

China-linked hackers are on high alert and lurking, waiting for the right moment to attack critical US infrastructure such as water treatment plants, power lines, transportation and information technology, Wray said.

Explaining that the FBI and other federal officials are working behind the scenes to counter this threat, Wray argued that China wants to create panic and break the will power of the people by attacking civilian infrastructure.

Suggesting that China is aggressively working to “steal” intellectual property, technology and research from US industry, Wray said this threat is now at the door.

Wray had issued a similar warning in his speech to members of the US House of Representatives on January 31.
