Channel 12 television reported that this step would allow the War Cabinet to decide on the response to an Iranian attack without the need for approval by the Security Cabinet.
With the authorization of the War Cabinet, decision-making on the response to Iran will be quicker and easier.
In addition to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, the War Cabinet includes Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and main opposition leader Benny Gantz.
Iran-Israel tensions
Israel launched an airstrike on Iran’s consulate building in Damascus on April 1. The attack killed 7 members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, including 2 generals.
Iran announced that the Israeli consulate attack amounted to an attack on its territory and that it would retaliate. Israel, on the other hand, announced that it would respond to Iran’s attack.
Yesterday, Iran launched attacks on Israel with hundreds of kamikaze drones, ballistic and cruise missiles.
Iran said some military targets were hit, while Israel said most of the attacks were intercepted by air defense systems, but a missile hit a military base in the south.
