Türk organized an interactive dialogue on the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) report on “Human rights in Ukraine” within the 55th session of the UN Human Rights Council.

“I am afraid the world has become numb to this crisis,” said Turk, whose video message was broadcast at the meeting, noting that they hear heartbreaking stories of human suffering in Ukraine every day.

Türk reminded that the Russia-Ukraine War, which started in February 2022, has left two years behind, and stated that this process has passed with great pain and losses.

Stating that more than 10,500 civilians have been killed and more than 20,000 wounded in Ukraine, Türk said that the real numbers may be higher.

Underlining the escalation of the conflict across Ukraine as of last week, Türk emphasized that Ukrainian children are deprived of the right to receive education in their own language.
