During a visit to the vocational school in Sindelfingen in Baden-Württemberg, Chancellor Scholz answered questions from students.
In response to a student’s question about nuclear power plants, Scholz said, “If someone decides to build a nuclear power plant now, it will be ready in 15 to 20 years according to current construction times. By then we should have solved all our problems in this regard.”
Noting that electricity from such plants is more expensive than energy from wind, solar or other sources, and that uranium reserves are limited, Scholz said that in 20 years’ time it will be possible to look back and see who made the cheaper and more efficient decision for electricity generation.
