1,000 firefighters have been deployed to fight a forest fire in the west of Victoria state in southeastern Australia.

Victoria State President Jacinta Allan shared on her X social media account that over 14 thousand hectares of land was burned in the fires and that evacuation warnings were issued in various regions.

Speaking to ABC TV, Australian Emergency Management Minister Murray Watt reported that 5 to 10 houses burned in the town of Beaufort in the west of the state and the number of damaged properties may increase.

Authorities said winds were pushing the fire northeast and that residential neighborhoods around the town of Beaufort were at risk.
