Canada denied reports in the Israeli media claiming that Canadian Immigration Minister Marc Miller supported the “voluntary immigration” of Palestinians to their country during his contacts in Israel.

Jeffrey MacDonald, Communications Advisor to the Canadian government, made a written statement to the AA correspondent on the issue.

MacDonald stated that Canada is working with its partners in the region to facilitate the removal of its citizens, residents and family members who meet the criteria in Gaza, “We know that many Canadians are concerned for the safety of their loved ones in Gaza.

For this reason, MacDonald reminded that Canada will launch a special application for its citizens with relatives in Gaza and will issue temporary visas within this framework, and that they will prioritize the current applications of Palestinians with family ties to Canada.

MacDonald emphasized that the reports in the Israeli media that Minister Miller could support the “voluntary immigration” of Palestinians to Canada during his visits to Israel, “The news in question is false.”

MacDonald underlined that the exit from Gaza is problematic and that those who can leave must meet all entry and eligibility criteria to come to Canada.

Netanyahu pushes for “voluntary migration” of Gazans to other countries

According to the Israeli HaYom newspaper, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said in a meeting with Likud Party lawmakers, “Our problem is the countries that are ready to accept refugees. We are working to solve it.”

Addressing the issue of the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza, Israeli MP Danon said:

“The world is actually discussing this issue. Canada’s Minister of Immigration Marc Miller has spoken publicly about this issue. So has Nikki Haley (a candidate for the US Republican presidential nomination in 2024). We need to create a team within Israel to deal with those who want to leave Gaza and go to a third country.”
