Matt Damon: I got depressed when I realized my movie was bad

The 52-year-old Hollywood star, who has starred in many award-winning films, did not name the movie he was talking about

Matt Damon has admitted that he was once depressed because he realized that the movie he was shooting was no good.

Known for successful films such as the Bourne series, Good Will Hunting, The Martian and The Departed, Damon’s next project is Christopher Nolan’s critically acclaimed Oppenheimer.

Although the American actor has starred in many critically acclaimed hits, he has also starred in some films that were not as well received.

In an interview with Variety, Damon said that while filming was underway on a production he was starring in, he suddenly realized that the movie was not good, which made him depressed.

The American actor did not name the movie in question, but said that halfway through filming, he realized that things were not going well.

“Without naming a specific movie. Sometimes you find yourself in such a movie that you know it’s not going to turn out the way you hoped and you still have to shoot it,” Damon said:

“I remember I was halfway through production, and there were still months to go. You took your family somewhere, you disturbed them. I remember my wife got me up because I was in a depression thinking, ‘What have I done?

Explaining that her husband told her, “We are here now,” the 52-year-old actress said that she was proud to be a professional actress thanks to him.

What it means to be a professional actor is to go and work 15 hours a day and do your best even if you know you’re going to lose. If you can do that with the best attitude possible, then you’re a professional and my wife has really helped me with that.

The movie Damon was referring to in his last comment is likely to be 2016’s The Great Wall. Directed by Yimou Zhang, the film was panned by critics upon its release. Damon later made it clear that the movie failed to meet expectations.
