YouTube accused of collecting children’s data in the UK

YouTube was accused of collecting viewing data of children under the age of 13 in the UK.

Duncan McCann, who has been working on the issue, made an official complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

McCann stated that the site collects data on the videos watched by children, where and with which device.

It was announced that the complaint in question may be the first complaint about the application known as the “ICO child code” in the country and announced in 2020. With the application in question, it is aimed to ensure children’s internet access with a high level of privacy.

YouTube is owned by US technology giant Alphabet, which is also the parent company of Google.
