During the escalation of tension on the Korean Peninsula, a remarkable statement came from South Korea. The South Korean administration gave the message of “acquiring nuclear weapons” for the first time.
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, who met with South Korean foreign and defense officials, made statements.
Yoon said for the first time that South Korea could acquire nuclear weapons.
Stating that his country’s advanced technology can be used to develop nuclear weapons, Yoon said, “If North Korea’s nuclear threat increases, we can obtain our own nuclear weapons. Such a situation will not take too long,” he said.
North Korea conducted 37 missile tests in the region in 2022.
