The Republican candidate for president, Dr. Senator from Pennsylvania, said on Tuesday that, contrary to the outgoing president’s unsupported claims, “much more information” is needed to assess whether Donald Trump won the 2020 election.
Oz was questioned, “Do you think the 2020 election [was] stolen? ” during a Fox News interview.
“That question has been posed to me numerous times. Being a doctor, I use language extremely precisely. There is a ton more information we need to acquire in order to make that determination, and I would be extremely interested in doing so, Oz replied. “I believe it would enhance the procedure generally.”
The question of how to represent Trump’s loss to Biden in 2020 without alienating the former president and his supporters has plagued a number of Republican candidates and elected officials. However, Oz appeared to offer a different opinion on the 2020 results just hours before his interview on Fox News. Oz stated that if he had been a senator on January 6, 2021, he would have voted to certify Biden’s election at an event with Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa.
Oz told reporters, “I would not have objected to it.” “Our task was to approve it by the time the delegates and those reports were forwarded to the U.S. Senate. I would have acted in the same manner.
In total, 139 Republicans in the House and 8 Republicans in the Senate voted against certifying the results, with many of them arguing that additional data was required to decide the winner in areas like Pennsylvania, where Trump lost by more than 80,000 votes. Numerous judicial challenges and governmental assessments of the outcomes were unsuccessful in changing the decision.
Trump campaigned alongside Oz in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, over the weekend. There, he criticized the Biden administration for the FBI raid on his Florida home and persisted in his unfounded assertion that electoral fraud cost him the state and the country.
As Oz and far-right GOP gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano watched, Trump told his audience, “I won Pennsylvania by a lot.
Trump also attacked John Fetterman, the lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania and opponent of Oz for the Democratic nomination for the Senate, by criticizing his informal campaign attire.
In the midst of Pennsylvania’s greatest crime wave, “Fetterman may dress like a teenager getting drunk in his parent’s basement, but he’s a violent madman hell-bent on letting dangerous criminals out of jail,” Trump claimed.
After the rally, Fetterman made sure to highlight the collaboration between Trump and Oz in a fundraising drive.
