The much-anticipated 11th and final season of The Walking Dead will premiere on August 22nd
“Not everyone will be spared,” the producers said during a press tour last week.
In season 7 of the show, the character Negan entered the cast and killed many people, which caused harsh reactions, after which the show’s violence level dropped a bit. Since then, characters with whom the audience did not have a great connection have been dying.
This statement by the producers raised the question of whether important characters will be killed in the final season.
The announced spinoffs of the series also give an idea about the future of some characters in the series universe.
Insider ranked the most likely characters to die and survive in the final season based on finalized information and audience predictions:
In September 2020, AMC announced that a spinoff centered on Norman Reedus’ Daryl and Carol was confirmed. This series, which is known to be shot in France, is expected to be a sequel to The Walking Dead: World Beyond, which ended in the same country.
As such, it seems certain that Daryl will not die in this season
No one in the Commonwealth respects Sebastian, including his mother. As a selfish character, Sebastian’s survival skills are also low.
If the walkers enter the Commonwealth, it seems that no one will sacrifice themselves to save this character.
Carol is safe too
The character played by Melissa McBride will also be seen in Daryl’s spinoff, which ensures the character’s future.
Also during the panel at Comic-Con, Reedus hinted to fans that “the Carol-Daryl story is far from over.”
Hornsby can burn
Josh Hamilton’s Lance Hornsby is a formidable villain, but his days seem numbered.
Hornsby last went after Maggie and Daryl.
Those who mess with Daryl’s team on the show don’t end well. Last time, those who clashed with this duo were brutally slaughtered.
Green light for Negan
AMC announced in March that Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan, will appear in the spinoff Isle of the Dead.
Speaking on the Rich Eisen Show, Morgan said he was surprised by the decision and confirmed that his character will not die.
Things are not looking good for Rosita
The trailer for the last season showed Rosita trapped in a pile of walkers. Even if Rosita escapes this crowd, there is a high chance that she will be bitten or realize a bite later.
In recent seasons, the show didn’t seem to know what to do with Rosita’s character. Even though the audience loves Rosita, this season could be a heartbreaking farewell.
Isle of the Dead will also star Lauren Cohen, which means Maggie won’t die.
Aaron is more likely to die
Aaron looks like a comic book version of Rick Grimes on the show. Rick’s death in the comics could be applied to Aaron in the show.
Judith could survive
In the comics, Judith’s brother Carl managed to survive until the end. Now that Carl is no longer on the show, it is likely that they will use his fate in Judith’s scenario in order not to stray too far from the main material.
Gabriel may be living his last days
For years, fans have been wondering what will happen to Gabriel, who has survived much longer than in the comics.
Gabriel’s adventure in the series may not last much longer and he may die in the last season.
R.J. must survive
R.J.’s murder would probably provoke a strong reaction from viewers. The screenwriters will most likely give R.J. a happy ending as he has yet to even meet his eponymous father.
Bells are ringing for Ezekiel
Ezekiel is another character who lives much longer than he does in the comics. While it would be cruel to kill off Khary Payton’s character who has just survived cancer, it is highly likely that the screenwriters will pen Ezekiel’s last days.
