President Joe Biden has acknowledged that the US murdered Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of al-Qaeda, in a drone attack in Afghanistan, according to the BBC.

He was slain on Sunday during a CIA counterterrorism operation in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.

He was one among America’s “most sought terrorists” and they collaborated in the 9/11 attacks.

Zawahiri “created a path of death and brutality against American civilians,” according to Mr. Biden.

Zawahiri has been the leader of al-Qaeda ever since the United States brought bin Laden to justice 11 years ago, according to Mr. Biden. “He coordinated al-branches Qaeda’s across the world while remaining hidden, including establishing priorities for giving operational instructions and encouraging operations against

“Now justice has been delivered and this terrorist leader is no more,” he added.

Zawahiri took over al-Qaeda after the death of Bin Laden in 2011.

Officials said Zawahiri was on the balcony of a safe house when the drone fired two missiles at him.

Other family members were present, but they were unharmed and only Zawahiri was killed in the attack, they added.
