After 10 months, the iPhone pulled from the river surprises with its water resistance

According to the BBC, Owain Davies dropped his cell phone into the River Wye about 10 months ago. The good news for the unfortunate man who went canoeing during his bachelor party and dropped his phone in the river came from the canoeist he did not know.

Another man, Miguel Pacheco, was canoeing when he noticed an iPhone at the bottom of the river. When Pacheco returned home, he realized that the device had filled with water and spent several days trying to dry it out. He then claimed to have found an iPhone in the River Wye, posted photos of it on social media and said he was looking for the owner.

Miguel Pacheco, who found the phone, expressed his shock the next day when he plugged the device into the charger. He pointed out that the iPhone was working and said that the screen turned on. “When I plugged it in in the morning, I couldn’t believe it, because there was a photo of a happy couple on the screen,” Pacheco said in an interview.

Pacheco, who started a mobilization on social media to deliver the phone to its owner, realized that his tweet had been shared more than 4,000 times. Those shares eventually paid off and the couple in the photo was identified as Owain Davis and his fiancée Fiona Gardner.

Davis, who received his iPhone from Pacheco 10 months later, said the following about the incident:

“I was in a two-man canoe and my partner probably shouldn’t have gotten up. Needless to say, I think we ended up in the water. The phone was in my back pocket and as soon as I got in the water I realized it was gone.

Stating that Pacheco’s effort to save the iPhone was amazing, the owner of the phone said that they would become friends with Pacheco.
