Amber Heard: I'm afraid Johnny Depp will file a new libel lawsuit

While what happened in the trials of movie stars Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, who occupied the public opinion all over the world for a long time with the defamation lawsuits they filed against each other, is still being talked about, Heard, who gave an interview to NBC, said that she was ‘afraid that Depp might file a new defamation lawsuit no matter what he does or says’.

In Wednesday’s part of the interview, which was broadcast in parts, Heard stated that this is the main purpose of defamation lawsuits, “it aims to shut you up,” she said.

“I thought it was a natural part of my freedom of speech,” Heard said of the remarks that led to the lawsuits.

Heard once again stated that the Washington Post article at the center of her lawsuit against Depp “has nothing to do with Johnny.”

Asked why she would write such a thing two years after their divorce, Heard replied, “Because the article was not about my relationship with Johnny.” When pressed by the journalist conducting the interview that it was in fact indisputably understood to be about her, Heard said it was because her voice was being used in a major cultural debate going on at the time.

Heard also stated that she still loves her ex-husband and has no ill feelings towards him.

At the end of the trial near Washington, a jury of 7 people found Depp right on the 3 defamation counts and awarded him a total of 15 million dollars in damages. However, 5 million dollars of the compensation was reduced to 350 thousand dollars, the upper limit in Virginia state law. On the other hand, Heard won 2 million dollars in compensation with the counter lawsuit he filed.
