God of War broke a record on Steam in just 24 hours!

The God of War PC version managed to attract more than 65,000 concurrent Steam players on its release day.

The PC version of God of War reached over 65,000 concurrent players on Steam in just 24 hours. According to SteamDB, the number of concurrent players has been increasing rapidly since the game’s release.

Sony is gaining critical acclaim with the PC version of God of War, which was first released for PlayStation 4 in 2018. Sony, which did not catch the expected wind on PC with Horizon Zero Dawn, seems to be rewarded for the care it has shown to PC versions with God of War.

God of War’s player count on Steam is surprising

This figure, which is not a bad threshold for a purely single-player experience, is surprising as it belongs to a game released for PlayStation 4 in 2018, that is, it has been played by thousands of players before. As you know, God of War is the third PlayStation game released for PC so far. Horizon: Zero Dawn and Days Gone were released last year, and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection was put on the waiting list.

That said, God of War creative director Cory Barlog recently said he has “no idea” whether God of War’s arrival on PC will affect its sequel, God of War Ragnarok.

“Every time we try for a new game, we look at each one and say, ‘Okay, is this the best? Do people like it? Did we do it right? Is there anything we did wrong? If we do this again, what can we do better in the future?’ we ask. But at the end of the day, it’s all up to Sony’s decision.”

Meanwhile, Steam broke a brand new concurrent user record, reaching 28 million users last weekend. This is the latest in a series of records for Valve, which saw the number of concurrent users increase for the first time at the start of the pandemic in 2020.
