Unvaccinated people will be taxed in Canada

Canada’s province of Quebec will receive health tax from those who do not have the Covid-19 vaccine

FUnvaccinated people will be taxed in Canadarancois Legault, the Prime Minister of Canada’s French-speaking province of Quebec, stated that a tax will be applied under the name of “health contribution” to those who do not have the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine.

Pointing out that those who are not vaccinated are a burden on the health system, Legault said that unvaccinated people create a financial burden for other citizens, and said, “We are working on a health contribution to be paid by all adults who refuse to be vaccinated.”

The Prime Minister of the province of Quebec, which is the place with the highest number of Covid-19 related deaths in Canada, also stated that those who do not get vaccinated for medical reasons will be exempt from tax.

In Canada, the government has announced for the first time fines for people who refuse to be vaccinated.

Stating that the tax amount in question has not been clarified yet, Legault stated that it will not be less than 100 Canadian dollars.

Legault continued by stating that only 10 percent of adults in Quebec are not vaccinated;

“50 percent of patients in intensive care in Quebec are unvaccinated. It is not for all Quebecers to bear the cost. Those who refuse to take their first dose in the coming weeks will have to pay a new health benefit. The majority want this to have consequences. I think it’s a matter of justice for the 90 percent of the population who are making some sacrifices. I think we owe that kind of precaution to them.”

Quebec has reported 62 more deaths attributed to the coronavirus. Thus, the total number of deaths in the state rose to 12 thousand 28. This is the highest death toll among Canadian provinces.
