At least two people were killed and many were injured in the attack, which Austria describes as a “heinous terrorist attack”, when many gunmen opened fire in a busy area of central Vienna, Austria.

Recep Tayyip Gültekin, who faced terrorists and was injured in his leg in the terrorist attack that took place in Vienna, the capital of Austria, told Anadolu Agency (AA) about his experiences.
One of the witnesses of the incident, Recep Tayyip Gültekin, of Turkish origin, stated that they heard gunshots while they were in Vienna, the first tourist area of the capital, with his friend Mikail Özer, and when they moved in the direction of the sounds, they witnessed a terrorist shoot a civilian person passing by.
Turkish citizen Ömer Gül, who lives in Vienna, the capital of Austria and works as a cook in a restaurant, explained how the armed attack took place in the city at night with these words. Gul said, “Before he could understand what was happening, gunfire started to come. These sounds lasted 10-15 minutes. They scanned the entire restaurant opposite us. “We took our customers sitting outside with us downstairs,” he said.

It has been announced that 7 people lost their lives and many people were injured in the armed attack in Vienna. In a statement made by the police, it was stated that one of the armed attackers was detained and the other was neutralized. Austrian Interior Minister Karl Nehammer announced that the armed attack in Vienna was a terrorist act. Austrian media announced that citizens in some restaurants were taken hostage. It was shared that a police officer was among those who lost their lives.
“Terrorist pointed his gun at me”
Stating that he later left the restaurant and confronted a terrorist, Gültekin described those moments as follows:
“After carrying the injured woman to a nearby restaurant, the terrorist pointed his gun at me. Meanwhile, I tried to do somersaults by throwing myself on the ground. I think he had the gun called the pump with a long barrel. A pellet from this gun hit the back of my right leg. However, it did not cause any major injury. We got into my friend’s car and went to the next police station to report the situation to the police. ”
Gültekin stated that after reporting the situation to the police, at another point they saw that a police officer was injured as a result of the clash.
Noting that the medical teams did not approach the scene due to the conflict, Gültekin said that they carried the injured officer to the ambulance with his friend Mikail Özen.
