The facility, named Saab Aeronautica Montagens (SAM), has over 70 employees, half of whom will study in Sweden. The workforce of the facility is expected to reach 200 employees by 2024.
Initially, the factory, which will produce easier parts of Gripen such as a seat, will also produce the body and wing part in the future.
Speaking about the facility, Saab Aviation General Manager Jonas Hjelm said, ‘This is part of the technology transfer program within the Gripen project. Based on the theoretical and practical business training of Brazilian engineers and installers in Linköping Saab, we were able to set up a high-quality production line at SAM, following the same standards at the factory in Sweden. ‘ said.
The aircraft parts to be produced at SAM will then be delivered to Embraer’s factory in Gaviao Peixoto and Saab’s own factory in Linköping for final assembly.

Saab JAS 39 Gripen is a lightweight, single engine, versatile fighter fighter.
The improved version, called Gripen JAS 39E / F, but also called Gripen NG or Super JAS, started deliveries in 2019.
