Netflix viewers can’t hold back tears in 2022 drama

An overlooked Brian Cox movie climbs to the top of the Netflix charts as viewers praise the “powerful” and “touching” story.

One of the new hits on Netflix, which these days allows its subscribers to discover hidden gems, is the 2022 drama starring Brian Cox, star of the hit series Succession.

Modest revenues

Appearing at festivals and earning a modest $379,890 at the box office, Mending The Line became one of the streaming giant’s most watched films.

The Joshua Caldwell-directed drama didn’t stop there, topping Netflix’s top 10 most-watched movies on March 25.

The film centers on a wounded war veteran’s friendship with a stubborn fisherman and a talented photographer after his return to the US.

Mending the Line has a high score of 80 out of 100 on review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes. The movie has an audience score of 82.

“The damn thing made me cry”

Netflix viewers also praised the film’s handling of the themes of emotional trauma and acceptance.

A social media user wrote, implying that the movie moved him and brought tears to his eyes:

I’m watching Mending the Line on Netflix and someone is chopping onions, oh my God.

Another viewer who admitted that she could not hold back her tears said:

I just watched Mending the Line on Netflix and the damn thing made me cry.

One user called it “powerful and thought-provoking”, while another commented that it was “a touching and beautiful movie about the trauma of war and the healing power of nature”.

The two-hour drama was not released in Turkey.
