The “RealPolitik” of Colonialism: The Attack of the Imagined Reality

Similar to how concepts and theses in Political Science serve colonialism, Realpolitik operates in a deeply dependent relationship with it.

Just as concepts and theses serve Colonialism in Political Science, Realpolitik works in a way that is highly dependent and dependent on Colonialism. This reminds us of the basic rule in Semiotics: All indicators are centered around a center and serve that center either at the beginning, in the middle, or at the end. By following the same principle, realpolitik has become the most effective weapon of Colonialism: a weapon that virtually enslaves people, forces them to be captives, and constantly speaks in favor of the powerful.

Realpolitik, the prevailing school of thought, is presented as if it were the only truth of political science. However, a detailed examination of political events and phenomena reveals that it has nothing to do with the “truth” that it claims, both internally and externally. On the internal level, it justifies itself by asserting that politics is shaped around power and interest, that states act accordingly, and that at first glance it seems “true” to people and provokes them. However, in every case where Realpolitik speaks in the name of “truth”, it is not actually speaking of “truth” but of a fictional and fictionalized (political) “reality”. In other words, political events and phenomena are reinterpreted in the Realpolitik fiction. And what is reinterpreted becomes part of its Myths, Spells, Legends.

The logic seen in science seems to repeat itself here: Those who, in the name of “science”, claimed to explain the whole world in the most authentic, real, unchanging way, free from superstition, fairy tales, primitive thinking and completely free of it, were imposing “scientificity”, not “science”, on people. The logic that deduced the absence of God from the boiling of water at 100 degrees was working in the same way. In short, they did not want to understand that everything that was established and accepted in the name of Science was the establishment and imposition of a world that was more than Science (water, boiling, the principle of causality derived from it). While Science-Causality was present and valid throughout the entire history of humanity and for all people across the world, it was only in the hands of the West that it was discovered and transformed into something that brought people out of “darkness”. Only the West was considered the most awake, intelligent, progressive and advanced in human history. Thus, with the story of “Scientificity” told and fictionalized in the name of Science, it was said that all humanity except the West had almost undergone a transfer.

From the dimension of thought, it can be said that the issue of “truth” and “reality” is completely central in philosophy. In fact, it is so central that it has become a habit for us to classify all thinkers and even schools in the history of philosophy according to it. For example; Plato / Aristotle, Idealism / Realism etc. derivatives. But this habit, in telling the history of Western thought and philosophy, carries it to the point of Truth, not reality. So it is a very bad habit.

Thinkers and schools of thought who insisted that matter-things are the origin and existence of knowledge and determine everything failed to realize that the excess that makes science scientific is the concepts, connections, meanings, narratives, explanations, interpretations that are not found in matter itself. In short, they could not see that thought could also bend matter. The famous German philosopher had shown this enough in modern epistemology, but it was obvious that everyone had the intelligence to understand the difference and strangeness in the transition of water to water vapor and then to industrialization, without the need for a Western philosopher or the West to show us. On the other hand, the fact that people still gathered around Secularism in the name of “truth” despite the fact that in Post-modern thought, “truth-truth” had swung to a completely different radical extreme showed another situation.

The place where we should test the reality of realpolitik in terms of its internal order should be its own alleged political practices and examples. Even a cursory glance at them can prove how people are being cheated in the name of “reality”, and that states act not with reality but with a fictionalized reality. For example, the Syrian invasion does not fulfill almost any criteria of realpolitik: Countries in the region, including Turkey, spent a total of 1 Trillion Dollars (loss, not profit), no superiority was achieved (contrary to political economic interests), and most importantly, war and chaos was created in the region on its own borders (the threat to security and even existence became closer to the states). On the external level of realpolitik, we need to consider its functional, contextual, utilitarian status. This dimension also brings us face to face with a terrible picture. Because it is this external dimension that gives voice to the sovereigns in the name of “truth”, that is used as a weapon, that is used in politics, in the state, where many operations are carried out by banning principles, morality, high ideals and even devaluing them by humiliating them. This dimension is a place where a world is created in the name of reality but based entirely on a simulation universe. Eighty percent of the world lives under humanitarian conditions (wars, diseases, migrations, starvation, lack of medicine, inadequate infrastructure, shelter… etc.), while eighty percent of the world thinks that Secularism is the only truth, just as those who are the farthest away from material conditions that have no power and strength are made Reel-politicians, which can only be explained by an eclipse of reason or a Myth (level of belief-faith).

The roles and destructions played by Realpolitik are too numerous to count, but the most fundamental thing we can direct against it is that it is not Real-truth, nor can it be considered Political. To put it more accurately, the reality and truth of Real-Politics is the reality of an ideology, an ideal, an idea that it believes in, defends and insistently imposes, contrary to its own claims. As can be easily seen in the Israeli relations and other examples, it is not a reality regarding the state’s own interest-security and existence, but a “reality” that is shrouded in compliance and conformity with the System. This being the case, it is by no means scientific to belittle and devalue the introduction of morality, values, principles and high ideals into politics and the state.

States transform “reality” into their own “reality” in the most idealistic manner and turn people into empty masses by stripping them of all values. Even things that are technically against their own interests, security and existence are marketed as absolute truth under the name of Realpolitik, and most importantly, the position of Colonialism, Imperialism and Sovereign Powers is constantly being fixed.

In sum, Realpolitik, as the most functional apparatus of Colonialism, is a qualified fraud in the name of “truth”. In addition, it is a great pit of hell that takes people’s worlds – their bodies – and their emotions – their souls.
