Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that the US government is stretching the concept of national security too far and abusing state power to suppress companies from other countries.

The White House had given 30 days to remove the Chinese TikTok application from devices belonging to federal agencies.

In the guideline statement on the subject, TikTok was removed from the phones and systems of all federal agencies in order to keep US data safe; internet traffic was instructed to prevent internet traffic from reaching the application in question.

TikTok, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, denies espionage allegations, stating that concerns stem from misinformation.
