Transfer between Benfica and Chelsea favours River Plate

Chelsea signed Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for a record fee on the last day of the transfer window. Fernandez’s former club River Plate earned 31 million Euros from this transfer.

The winter transfer period in the Premier League ended on 31 January 2023. Chelsea, which left its mark on the summer and winter transfer periods, added Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for 121 million Euros on the last day.

Chelsea spent 329.5 million Euros on transfer in the interim period with the transfer of Enzo Fernandez. Benfica became the first club to sell more than 100 million Euros more than once.

River Plate’s earnings

Argentine club River Plate sold Enzo Fernandez to Benfica for 18 million Euros at the beginning of the season. The Argentine player, who shone at the World Cup, was chased by the giants. With Chelsea’s acquisition of Fernandez, River Plate earned 31 million Euros more from the next sale.
