OLED screen material for the future

The Elec’s most recent report clarifies the situation. The M12 OLED panels were referenced on the same Korean website in February. Apple will now reportedly purchase M12 and M11 OLED screens for its iPhone 14 models, according to The Elec.

According to the leak, the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus/Max would use the M11 OLED screen technology. M11 OLED panels are also seen in the Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy S22 Plus. The entry-level Galaxy S22 uses M10 pixel materials on an even older OLED display.

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will use M12 OLED panels. Samsung is reportedly going to adopt M12, a more costly material, for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4’s foldable OLED panels.

Additionally, LG will employ several OLED display components for the iPhone. LG refers to its OLED component set as RS. The newest OLED material, according to the Elec, is known as RS-L. According to rumors, this is the M12’s counterpart, and LG will provide RS-L screens for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 13 already has RS-K screens from LG.

Interestingly, LG will also supply RS-L panels for the regular iPhone 14. While the differences between M12 and RS-L are unclear, iPhone 14 models featuring LG panels should still get LTPS screens running at 60Hz. It’s just the iPhone 14 Pro Max that will utilize the LTPO variant.
