Muhammad Ali’s heavyweight championship belt, which he won in the 1974 “Rumble in the Jungle” fight, sold at auction for $6.18 million.
The golden belt that Muhammad Ali won in 1974 when he defeated George Foreman in the “Rumble in the Jungle” was sold at auction today. Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay won the belt for $6.18 million.
Irsay confirmed that he bought the belt for his collection of American history and pop culture memorabilia and wrote on social media that he was proud to have it. The belt will be on display at Navy Pier in Chicago on August 2 and in Indianapolis on September 9.
