President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. According to the statement released by the Directorate of Communications, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy discussed the Ukraine-Russia war and issues related to the creation of safe corridors for the export of grain in the Black Sea. During the meeting, President Erdoğan emphasized that their greatest wish is for peace to come to Ukraine and stated that they continue to work on the plan prepared by the United Nations for the transportation of Ukraine’s grain products to the world market.

Stating that the solution between Ukraine and Russia will be through diplomacy in any case and that the negotiation table should be kept open for this purpose, Erdoğan expressed that they are ready to provide all kinds of support including facilitation and mediation in the Istanbul process. Erdoğan also thanked Ukrainian President Zelensky for his Eid greeting in Turkish in his video message on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
