In the UK, resignations continue in the government after Health Minister Sajid Javid and Finance Minister Rishi Sunak announced their resignations.

Nadhim Zahawi, who was appointed to replace Sunak yesterday, wrote a poisonous letter. Zahawi underlined that he accepted the post ‘out of loyalty’ and said;

‘Prime Minister, you know what needs to be done. Now it’s time to go.

The British Metro newspaper announced this development to its readers with the headline ‘Boris Hohnson stabbed in the back’.

Shortly after this letter, the British press announced that Johnson had decided to resign. According to the news, Johnson will announce this decision in a few hours.

BBC announced that Johnson will also resign as the leader of the Conservative Party. The following statements were made in the news;

‘It is expected that a new leader will be elected until the fall to replace Johnson, who is understood to resign from the leadership of the ruling Conservative Party, and then Johnson will hand over the prime ministerial seat to the new leader.

The UK Education Minister resigned two days after taking office, raising the number of resignations in the country to 54.

After more than 30 resignations in the government yesterday, Johnson insisted that he would continue as Prime Minister.

“I will continue to do the job I was elected to do and I am happy to tell you that I will continue to do it,” Johnson said in a statement to the Liaison Committee when asked what he thought about resigning.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was under intense pressure to resign due to the parties held at the Prime Minister’s Residence, especially during the Covid restrictions, said that he would not leave office even if he lost the by-elections.

Johnson had won the vote of confidence in his party’s parliamentary group on June 6 with 211 votes against 148.

However, the fact that more than 40 percent of the Conservative Party’s 359 MPs wanted Johnson to leave office was interpreted as very difficult days awaiting the British Prime Minister in the coming period in domestic politics.

The politician, whose full name is Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, was born on June 19, 1964.

The son of Stanley Johnson, the grandson of Ali Kemal, who served as Minister of Interior during the last period of the Ottoman Empire, Boris Johnson started his career at The Times after graduating from Oxford University.

He then moved to The Daily Telegraph, where he became assistant editor. In 1999 he became editor of The Spectator. In the 2001 General Election he was elected to the House of Commons.

He was elected Mayor of London on May 1, 2008 in the local elections while he was the MP for Henley of the Conservative Party in England, and he held this position until the 2016 local elections.

Elected as the leader of the Conservative Party, Boris Johnson became the new Prime Minister of the country in 2019.
