Hilary Duff, the star of How I Met Your Father (HIMYF), which airs on the digital streaming platform Hulu, said she doesn’t know who will play the role of the father and that she likes that it remains a mystery.
The screenplay for the spinoff of How I Met Your Mother, one of the most beloved series in television history, revolves around a mother named Sophie telling her son how he met his father.
In New York, in her 30s, searching for the love of her life Sophie is played by Duff, while her older self is voiced by Kim Catrall.
In an interview with website Digital Spy on May 15, Duff said all possibilities for the role of father were open, adding, “I think anyone could be the ‘love of his life.'”
Duff said: “I think writers need to keep taking Sophie in the right direction. “That doesn’t mean Sophie will always make great choices, because we want the show to reflect real-life experiences that everyone is making obvious mistakes.”
The candidates for the role of father in HIMYF include Jesse (Chris Lowell), Drew (Jonh Peck), Ian (Daniel Augustin), Sid (Suraj Sharma), Charlie (Tom Ainsley).
In January, an interview with the show’s cast revealed that the most popular choice among the cast was Drew.
