Erdogan: Herzog will come to Turkey in early February; A new era in relations with Israel may begin.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Israeli President Herzog would visit Turkey in early February, but that a new era in bilateral relations could begin.

Answering questions from journalists on NTV television, Erdogan made statements on the domestic and foreign agenda. Sezen Aksu stated that Turkish music is an important name and stressed that the phrase “Breaking your tongue” is not directed at a person’s person. He said he would not allow religious values to be spoken about, regardless of faith.

Erdogan said, “We need to separate this place. I have a sensitive attitude towards the sanctities of our people. Everybody knows that. I expressed the expression of breaking his tongue not as an insult to a person’s person, but to his holiness.”

Russia-Ukraine crisis

Addressing the crisis between Russia and Ukraine, Erdogan expressed his hope that Russia would not go down the path of armed attacks and invasion of Ukraine, stressing that such a step would not be a rational move for Russia and our region. “If they wish, we can bring the two leaders together in our country and pave the way to the re-establishment of the peace environment,” he said.

Erdogan said that they are optimistic about the economy in the coming period and underlined that the recent steady movement in the exchange rate supports this optimistic outlook.

“As of January 25th, the size exceeded 203 billion liras. 58.6 billion liras converted from foreign currency accounts”, and said, “We certainly do not think it is right to expect interest.”

Snow disaster in Istanbul

Erdogan criticized the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality for the heavy snowfall in Istanbul disrupting daily life. “This is utter incompetence. You can’t take precautions after it snows. You should take all your precautions as we enter the winter season.”

Erdogan described the claim that chp municipalities are blocking their projects as a “complete lie” and said, “We are not blocking anyone. They have put the municipality in debt because of their incompetence, mismanagement and wrong choices.”

Natural gas outage

Stating that the gas cut will be resolved within 10 days, the president also discussed Iran’s claims that it has cut off the flow of natural gas due to debt by saying, “We do not owe Iran money, on the contrary, these allegations are false.”
