In Istanbul, the snow increased its effect from the morning hours.
Due to the heavy snow, there was a density of traffic in Zeytinburnu, Cevizlibağ, Şirinevler, Bahçelievler.
While there was no disruption to the traffic flow on istanbul’s main arteries, motorists had a difficult time due to snow puddles in some streets and streets.
In the morning, commuters cleared snow puddles from their vehicles, while some tradesmen shoveled snow in front of their businesses.
Due to the heavy snow, side streets and sidewalks in Sarıyer were covered with snow. The vehicles had difficulty moving forward.
While some vehicles remained on the road in Seyrantepe and Sanayi neighborhoods of Kağıthane, the passengers of the bus that was stranded in Levent got out of the vehicle.
Crews on their way to help were also stranded
Meanwhile, drivers had a hard time because of the occasional snow during the night.
In Pendik Esenyalı, the fire truck that came to the rescue of the vehicle that was stranded due to the snow was also trapped. Crews mobilized to save their own vehicles this time.
An ambulance, which was struggling to move through Yenibosna Victory District, was able to get out of its position after officers put chains on the tyres.
In sultanbeyli Akşemsettin Neighborhood, an ambulance skidded and hit a parked car as it went downhill.
In Maltepe Hazelnut, the snow plow was also unable to move forward due to the snow.
Drivers affected by heavy snow in gaziosmanpasa Black Sea Neighborhood had difficulty moving through traffic.
A minibus was stranded on Sarıyer Qatar Street. After a while, the passengers got out of the vehicle and pushed the van out of its position.
In Beyoglu Şişhane, some vehicles were stranded due to snow.
Vehicle entry from Thrace stopped
Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya announced that vehicles from Thrace to Istanbul will not be allowed until further notice due to the snowfall.
Governor Yerlikaya said on Twitter:
“Dear drivers, until further notice, vehicles traveling from Thrace to Istanbul will not be allowed to enter our province due to heavy snowfall. It is strongly requested that we do not leave from the direction of Thrace.”
Work in public institutions ended at 3:30 p.m.
“According to the information received from our Regional Directorate of Meteorology, the snowfall in Istanbul will intensify in the evening hours. Taking into account transportation disruptions, the shifts will end at 15.30 by leaving on-call personnel in public institutions and organizations.”
