WHO announced: 10 percent of the global population could be COVID-19

Mike Ryan, executive director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Health Emergencies Program, said in a statement that an estimated 10 percent of the global population is affected by the COVID-19 virus.

Speaking at the special session of the WHO Executive Board, Ryan stated that the remaining 90 percent of the population is still in danger and stated that a difficult period awaits the world with the increasing spread of the virus.

While the population of the world is estimated to be 7.8 billion people, according to globally collected COVID-19 data, there are 35.5 million registered COVID-19 cases that make up 0.46 percent of the total population.
