After the resignation of Edouard Philippe in France, Jean Castex was appointed as Prime Minister.
In a written statement from the Elysee Palace, it was stated that Castex was appointed Prime Minister and was tasked with forming the new government.
Castex was commissioned by Macron in April to manage the process for removing measures taken in the context of the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19) outbreak.
Castex, who was the mayor of the Prades district in the south of the country in 2008, served as Deputy Secretary General in 2011 and 2012 during the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy.
In the morning, Elysee Palace announced that Philippe presented himself and his government’s resignation to President Emmanuel Macron and that the resignation was accepted.
The country has been shaken with social and economic problems, and Philippe has been expected to resign for several weeks.
